You may have read my first blog on this event but we had such a great time that I wanted to follow up with and update!
As October comes to a close, let’s not forget that all forms of cancer are a daily, weekly and yearly fight. Breast Cancer claims the lives of over 40,000 women every year and research for a cure is rapidly growing. The Wiggity Wig Walk was such a great event to participate in and after our meet up at Nick’s Café in New Cumberland, Don Perry, Owner of Faulkner Honda offered and additional surprise donation of $2,500.00! We painted a Honda Odyssey for the Faulkner showroom, did some face painting and cheered on passing drivers as we got pumped up for the walk. Since I decorated my truck for the event, the fella’s from Mode Magazine asked me if I could park in front so people could jump in the back to aid in the ruckus! (no problem and that’s what trucks are for…) 😀
All three rendezvous points (Nicks, Gullifty’s and Flinchy’s) were high in spirits (pun intended…) and very accommodating. There was a lot going on with silent auctions, door prizes and raffles. If I was a food critic, I would add that Flinchy’s has a good menu and offer two thumbs up.
I recently heard from Lani Labrie Bull, founder of the WWW, and she raised OVER $11,000.00 for the cause! These funds go directly to the individuals supported by the walk to help pay for their medical bills so we were more than happy to support Emilia Dameshek and Vicki Stambaugh this year. In another act of kindness, Lani became aware that another friend was diagnosed with breast cancer not long before the event started. She donated $1,000.00 of the funds to her as well. I’d say that we need more people in the world like Lani that are not afraid to step up to the plate and make the difference!
Please stay in touch with the WWW website (t-shirts still available) and facebook page for next year’s event and hope that you will join us.
